Ovia North East Farmers Union The Most Organised Farmers Group in Edo State

There is one truth about this farmers union no one can contest.  The truth is that the union has a focus. A very bright future. This Union is the only co-operative movement in the state that is operating co-operative the original way as they are applying the rochdale principles which has been approved by the international co-operative alliance (ICA)
Which are :-
1.     Open Membership
2.     Democratic Control (One Man, One Vote)
3.     Distribution of the surplus to the members in proportion to their transactions
4.     Limited Interest on Capital
5.     Political and Religious Neutrality
6.     Cash Trading
7.     Promotion of Education
All over the world today, it has been made very clear that even though other sectors of the economy are relevant, agricultural sector remains the bedrock of any nation. Therefore the great farmers of Ovia North East, Edo State are crying with one voice to the Edo state government and all Nigerians in Diaspora to hasten up to support this group as they have brought themselves together in the bid to reposition agriculture, and to sustain this trend henceforth n Edo State. Because our great God in his infinite wisdom has directed us to go about our farming business in a more organize and productive way. This we have already started by coordinating all farmers in Ovia council area, for a collective farming. How were we able to do this, many may wonder. The processes are:-
a.       We requested for a large expanse of land (one mile square) for our farming project from the government
b.      We encouraged all farmers from the local government area to become part of this program by subscribing to a portion in the farm
c.       We promised the farmers that we will help them sort for loan to develop more if they use their hard earn resources to start up in this initial stage.
d.      In this process, we intend to Identify the serious farmers in the local government area and embossing them financially and otherwise with available loans or grants
e.      To succeed, the managers wish to set up various committees to follow up the project by monitoring the activities in the farm from clearing to the point of harvest
f.        Another area that encouraged the farmers was that we promised them to scout for interested buyers for the cultivated produce
g.       To add value to our products even if no foreign buyers wish to purchase from us, the management of the Union focused setting up a processing mill to process and package our export, even for export.
h.      Finally appreciating Jehovah our God for the backing he has given to the Union by using them to change the lifestyles of the farmers for good. If you support us, you will share from God’s Favour
