Q:  Why Was The Group Set Up?

 Agbonlahor:

A:   To enhance quick recognition by the government and other great establishment that would like to assist us by means of sponsoring our farming projects.Although, the vision of the Nigeria Cooperative sector is to promote the members entrepreneurial capacities so that they can generate adequate surpluses for themselves and create opportunities for economic progress.

Q:  What group does your organization belong?

 Agbonlahor:

A:   Our organization is a non political, religious or cultural society. It is a co-operative society.

Q:  Give A Brief Narration Of Your Group

 Agbonlahor:

A:   Gofta farmers group today is the upshot of a group formed just four years ago, known as Gods Favor Traders Association.

Gods favor in its initial beginning had just eleven members (traders) to its credits.  But as the intention of this group started to be visible to all, many out looker started trouping in. this led to the certification of this group by the ministry of commerce. Edo State, as Gofta Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Limited.

After the inauguration of the group to a fully certified co-operative society limited by the chief co-operative officer, this group automatically became known as Gofta Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Limited.

Some great men and women of honor and inestimable value that assisted the group one way or the other were honored by the group either as patron, matron, special advisers or adviser on communications.

Q:  What Are You Basically Into?

 Agbonlahor:

A:   We are into Agricultural development program basically the cultivation, processing, packaging and marketing of all cassava products.

Q:  What Will You Do If I/We Support You With Some Incentives?

 Agbonlahor:

A:   We would appreciate if we can get them as soon as possible. Mostly now that we ride into our next planting season which starts from March/April 2015.

The co-operative society being a safe place for majority of the less privileged ones among us, has a number of people who has already benefited from this Goftagroup organization. Because of the needs of many others, we are prompt to request for help from you. We promise you that majority of those to benefit from this gesture will be Farmers and others who are small scale entrepreneurs.

Q:  What Is Co-Operative Society, If I May Ask?

 Agbonlahor:

A:   Co-operative society is an organization that runs democratically. And the interest of her members is what the executive strive to meet up with. On this ground, collectively, the financial members will be able to meet up with any financial constrain the group might face when the ship arrives. But as regarding custom clearance, the society is duty free.

       It will surprise you to note that because of the assurance given to the All Cooperative Farmers Association by the Honourable Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Area, the Head of Department (HOD), Agriculture and the local government Engineer visited the cooperative farm cited in Okokhuo comunity on the 11th February, 2014.

          The promise made by the local government boss, prompt the diligent farmers to embark on the cultivation of the Cooperative Farm at Okokhuo, of which out of want, the farmers that make up the association expended about N1.4m for the cultivation of maize and cassava farm which eventually led the dedicated and hard working farmers to unprecedented debt.

              As the money used for this project was borrowed. We want to therefore use this medium to plead to the council boss Barrister Lucy Omagbon today 13th September, 2014 to please do well to live up to expectation by simply Bulldozing and Grading the farm road for the farmers.

              And we n ACFA are very sure that not only that this request is not difficult for the Hon. Chairman to actualize, but that it will help her to gain fame from the farmers and eventually get an award from these sincere and well respected citizens of this great country, Nigeria.

What is the spleen, and what is its function?

        The spleen is an important organ in the body that has a variety of tasks.

It is a major filter of blood, helping remove old and damaged red blood cells, and bacteria. 
It also part of the lymphatic system and produces lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that is part of the immune system that helps prevent and fight infection.  
The spleen also acts as a reservoir for red blood cells and platelets, should the body need them. 

          What does the spleen look like, and where is it located in the body? 

        The spleen is located in the left upper quadrant of the abdomen, just beneath the diaphragm and next to the stomach. It has a very rich blood supply since it is responsible for filtering blood, and it is protected by the 9th, 10th, and 11th ribs. Normally, it is the size of an orange or a small fist. 
The spleen has two types of tissue; the red pulp is responsible for filtering blood, while the white pulp is responsible for its immune function. To know more about your health, please click HERE

The Endocrine System

The Endocrine system (along with the nervous system) controls and regulates the complex activities of the body. The Endocrine system regulates the activities of the body by secreting complex chemical substances (hormones) into the blood stream. These secretions come from a variety of glands which control various organs of the body. The key functions are:

1. To regulate the metabolic functions of the body.

2. To regulate the rate of chemical reactions in various cells.

3. To influence the ability of substances to transport themselves through cell membranes.

 

About Hormones

Hormones

are secreted from the glands of the endocrine system, they are specific in that each hormone causes a response in a specific target organ or group of cells, rather than on the body as a whole. Exocrine hormones are secreted via a duct into the blood and usually effect a distant organ or tissue. Endocrine hormones are secreted within the tissue (rather than via a duct) and enter the blood stream via capillaries.

Hormones can be grouped into three main types:

1.      amines, these are simple molecules

2.      proteins and peptides which are made from chains of amino acids

3.      steroids which are derived from cholesterol.

Glands

discharge hormones directly into the bloodstream. They have built in feedback mechanisms that maintain a proper balance of hormones, and prevent excess hormone secretion. Low concentrations of a hormone will often trigger the gland to secrete. Once the concentrations of the hormone in the blood rise this may cause the gland to stop secreting, until once again hormone concentrations fall. This feedback mechanism (which is characteristic of most glands) causes a cycle of hormone secretions.

Disposal of waste.

Once hormones have served their function on their target organs/tissues they are destroyed. They are either destroyed by the liver or the actual tissues of the target organs. They are then removed by the kidneys.

The Pituitary Gland

This is known as the "master gland" because it exerts control over all of the other glands of the endocrine system. Despite its importance the pituitary gland is no larger than a small pea. The Pituitary gland is made up of two separate glands: the Anterior lobe which is an outgrowth of the pharynx, and the Posterior lobe which is an outgrowth of the brain composed of neural (nerve) tissue.
